About the game

Which tree is taller, and which is shorter? How does a wide cake differ from a narrow one, and a large window from a small one? Try comparing the pictures carefully and finding the correct answers.

‘Point Out the Sizes’ — a wooden sorting puzzle designed to introduce the concepts of ‘tall’, ‘short’, ‘narrow’ and ‘wide’. The child looks at rows of cats, boys, trees, windows and cakes of different sizes and selects the corresponding pictures based on the clues.

Familiar objects help children notice the differences between sizes and describe the world around them more accurately.

In the set

• a 32 × 23 cm board with a grid
• 29 tiles: at the top — clues such as ‘tall, short, wide…’; in rows — cats, boys, trees, windows and cakes of various sizes

How to play

1. Look at the clues at the top: tall, short, narrow, wide.
2. The child takes a tile and determines whether the object is tall or short, wide or narrow.
3. They place the tile in the correct column of their row.

Where to start

Start with two concepts — ‘high’ and ‘low’.

Game variations

• ‘Find the tall boy’;
• ‘What have they mixed up?’;
• Form a sentence: ‘This cake is wide’.
